Our town hotel meeting all your needs

Our mission in our hotel in the Bavarian Alps is to convey this feeling of well-being to all our guests via sophisticated designs, relaxation in its purest form and authentic pleasure, so that you’re feeling as good today as Queen Caroline did back then and you discover somewhere where you can replenish yourself and recharge your batteries in a stylish atmosphere directly associated with the region. Our aim is for you to leave the Caro & Selig delighted and overjoyed, and from this moment on know the address of your oasis of calm.

Our hotel is dedicated to Caroline of Baden, Queen of Bavaria who experienced bliss at Lake Tegernsee, that unique feeling when everything is simply in its rightful place, when the hustle and bustle of everyday life disappears and you can breathe deeply once again. We’d like to reflect in every detail of our hotel what Queen Caroline felt as she stood on the shores of Lake Tegernsee for the first time and fell immediately in love with this special corner of the Earth.

Queen Caroline: our inspiration

Our aim is to make the spirit of Queen Caroline appreciable with all the senses in every corner and detail of our hotel in Tegernsee. Here, the focus is on fullness and arriving in the moment. Treat yourself to some time out, enveloping yourself in the modern design of our interior complemented by elements of local handicraft.

High values, a lot of heart, and a sense of aesthetics – Queen Caroline as an icon

Queen Caroline was a unique personality known for her charity and generosity. Contrary to the flow of her era, she thought nothing of social standing, helped the poor, stood up for women‘s and men’s rights and against injustice. She stood for her values and refused to be influenced by powerful men, even taking on Napoleon in heated debates. She was the first Protestant queen on the Bavarian throne and again in this role displayed great care and concern, and helpfulness.

A love story: Queen Caroline Lake Tegernsee

As soon as she stood at the lake for the first time, she was in love – with the landscape, the colours and the good air quality. To experience this feeling over and again, her husband Duke Maximilian Joseph purchased the Tegernsee monastery in 1816 on her initiative and had it converted into a castle. Queen Caroline had found the place closest to her heart, somewhere where she could re-centre herself and redefine relaxation through a place and a feeling: pure bliss!

For the arts, justice and the big picture

Her aspiration was to see people, irrespective of their status, religion or background, and to help them whenever she could. In addition to her social engagement, she also promoted and loved the arts, accompanied by the sounds of Paganini, and pursued her love of aesthetics in various ways.
